Guillotine Choke Anyone?

Posted by Mike Calimbas on October 21, 2009

In the videos below, UFC fighters Matt Arroyo and Kenny Florian demonstrate another variety of the guillotine choke – one which emphasizes elbow placement to finish as opposed to finishing by arching the back. Check it out. And for pete’s sake, the move is pronounced “Gi-ya-teen,” and not “gill-oh-teen!”

Props to Darcebrabo on the UG for posting this thread.

Finishing the Triangle Choke

Posted by Mike Calimbas on October 1, 2009

Below is an excellent instructional vignette by ADCC 3rd placer Ryan “Ryangle” Hall. In it, he goes into detail about a few details on finishing triangle chokes. Worth watching if this move is a big part of your game or you want it to be.

Half Guard Grip with Triangle/Sweep Combo

Posted by Kris on April 4, 2009

I found this video randomly and thought it’d be a great grip to experiment with.  Can be used with or without gi and the guy sets up a triangle/sweep combo from this grip.  Off to experiment!
